Brooke walked into the dance. Sure she was late but who cared. Life was so screwed up right now. Brooke was wearing a red dress and black heels. Brooke had her hair curled. Her make up was neat as always. Brooke looked amazing and she knew it. Brooke went to the drink table and got a cup of punch. She knew it was spiked but who cared. Brooke looked around and saw lots of people she knew. But instead she decided to talk to a guy leaning on the wall. She didn't recognize him so she decided to introduce herself. Brooke walked up to the guy. She smiled and said "Bit crowded isn't it?" She wasn't one to say hello it wasn't her style. She leaned on the wall not to close to him and said "Hey I'm Brooke."

Calypso almost jumped a little, out of surprise, when he heard someone speaking to him. He sure hadn't expected that, oddly enough. Even though he'd just been thinking about talking to someone. So it took a second, but he managed to get over the shock and focus on what she'd said. "Yes, crowded," he agreed. Not giving a more lengthy answer, simply because he was busy - taking in her appearance. She was pretty, yes, but not his type exactly. Like the type of girl who knew just how pretty she was. One of the popular girls, to be sure, though he didn't know her. And it wasn't that he could say he hated the populars... he tried not to hate anyone before he actually knew them. But, well, if he were to go by what he'd realized from previous popular types he'd known, then he wouldn't like her. But, again, he tried not to judge based on stereotypes. And the fact that she'd decided to talk to him was enough of an indicator that maybe she wasn't just like the stereotype. "I'm Calypso."

Brooke smiled at his shock. She looked over at Calypso and said "Nice name. It's different. Lucky you I got a plain name. Brooke. Like a bridge. Something right from a vacation brochure." Brooke was a very sociable girl. She talked to people even if they weren't in her clique. It didn't matter to her. Sure Brooke looked like the popular people, and sometimes acted like them too. But if a person wasn't and idiot to her then she wouldn't bitch about them. She turned to the guy and asked "What's short Calypso? Cal?" Brooke looked around there were so many people it was weird. She never expected people to actually show up it was a dance. But she had to go . She organized half of it. The ballroom looked nicer then she expected it to. But everything exceeded her expectations. But she always knew something was up with a punch. She took a sip of it. She tasted the beer and put it down. It was disgusting. They might as well have put a bar in there too.

"Thanks, I think," Calypso said, about the compliment on his name. He quite liked his, actually, perhaps because it was so different. Even though it was originally a girl's name - some character in Greek mythology - but because of the 'o' ending, it was now considered to be a name for either gender. He smiled. "Or Brooke, like.. well, a brook. You know, a small stream?" Calypso laughed a little, then nodded. "Yes.. Cal, is sometimes short for Calypso." He sighed, and looked at her, then the rest of the people in the room. He wondered, thinking of what Brooke was wearing, if she'd come in costume like the rest of the people had.. not that everyone's costume was obvious. He'd seen a few people in the room that he just wasn't sure what they were supposed to be. Of course.. some people might say the same about his 'costume'. but at least you could tell he was.. to some extent. Unless you thought he normally wore that much makeup.

Brooke smiled. "So are you new here or what? I don't think I've seen you around." Brooke knew almost everyone in school by face. Brooke didn't recognize this guy at all. Brooke looked around at all the people wearing costumes. She didn't want simply cause she didn't feel like it. So instead she decided to play her role and be a queen in a dress and a crown. She looked amazing and she knew it. So Brooke looked at the guy and said "How long have you been in New York?" She smiled and then turned back to watch the people. Brooke would never wear a costume like half of the people there. It just wasn't her style. Brooke would rather wear a dress and a tiara, and pretend to be a queen or something. Customs didn't work for her at all.

"Sort of new," Calypso said, with a slight smile. "New to the school, anyway." He shrugged. For that reason, he actually had quite a few friends there. Logan, Meli, Hayden... people he'd met outside of school. He sighed, finally noticing her crown.. So she must be a princess, or perhaps a queen. No surprise there. The girl probably was queen of the school. So why she was talking to him, he wasn't sure. Boredom, he assumed, and decided not to think about it much. "Forever. I grew up here.. it's crazy, I actually live like ten, fifteen minutes away from here. Or.. lived.. considering I have to stay in the dorms now.." It was a little weird, Calypso had to admit. Living so close to home, yet staying in a dorm. But he was on full scholarship, so he might as well take advantage of everything.. like the opportunity to not live with his parents. Not that they were hard to live with. But it was nice to feel kind of independent.

Brooke looked at Cal and asked "How new is sort of new? Did you come a week ago two days ago? I've came here from the beginning of high school. Somewhere down my bloodline someone relative helped build this school. So now Rubz and I rule the school." She smiled and looked around. So many people were there it wasn't even funny. Brooke looked around she didn't see Ruby anywhere. Brooke hadn't seen her in a while. Brooke turned back to the guy and asked "So what are you supposed to be?"

"Today's my first day, actually.. So by sort of, I just meant that I was new to the actual school," he said with a shrug. He smiled a little, hearing her admit that she pretty much ruled the school. No surprise there. He'd suspected it already. With a slight sigh, he leaned more of his weight against the wall. "Some miscellaneous person attending a masquerade," Calypso answered. "You couldn't tell?" He was a little surprised. After all, he had a mask painted onto his face, pretty much. And so he hadn't thought it would be so hard to see. But, maybe she just hadn't been sure what he was.. despite the mask. Like if he was supposed to be something else.

Sawyer walked into The Ballroom. Everyone seemed to be having a good time. Fist day at a new school and she decides to show up at the dance. Good job Sawyer. She didn't exactly want to dance, or anything. She wouldn't mind if someone asked her too, but otherwise she just wanted to see most of the school at their happiness. Sawyer had been accepted to the school in the summer, but her dad didn't want her to come. One bad incident, her boyfriend in jail, hiding the secret of what her brother did to her boyfriend, on top of being a girl with a great voice and wanting to go to this school built up on her father, and with some pressure from her mother and brother, they let her. She had a scholarship which meant it wouldn't be expensive. Her other brothers and sisters wouldn't be happy that their sister was going to a boarding school, and neither was her dad. Sawyer walked over to the snack table and poured herself some punch. She took her paper cup and leaned against the wall near the entrance, sipping her drink.

Lena stood in the doorway of the ballroom. She looked out from behind her white mask, trying to spot anyone she knew. She was dressed in a full length white satin dress that bellowed out from her waist, it was off the shoulders with no sleeves. It had a snowflake pattern of crystals that covered he satin.

Her long raven black hair was curled and hung down her back. A snowflacked shape tiara sat on her head. White gloves that stopped at just below her elbows had a matching snowflake pattern on them. On her feet she wore white tennis shoes with sequinced lace for shoe laces. If she was doing to dance she might as well be somewhat comfortable, she told Terry, her father's life partner, who had helped her design th costume.

Lena looked around and wondered if she had made the right choice in coming, she felt somewhat alone.

Sawyer turned her head to the other side of the entrance, noticing a girl with black hair in a white dress. Sawyer felt awkward, standing there in jeans and a blue button down shirt with a pocket on the left side of her chest. She sighed, taking another sip. A clump of her blonde hair fell in front of her left cheek and eye, but she didn't bother pulling it back. Sawyer looked around for her brother. He said he would meet her here, and show her around the school after a couple songs. Wonderful, that her brother would sacrefice the dance for that. But he didn't like dances very much anyways.
